weekend amusement

Subject: A Truly Interesting Bit Of History

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat !
Lincoln was shot at the theatre named "Ford."
Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the "kicker":
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe,Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Lincoln was shot in a theatre and the assassin ran to a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theatre.

Creepy, huh?

got this through an e-mail sent by a friend, don't know if all the facts are true but if they are WOW !
Have a good weekend !

Famous Last words

yesterday i had a famous last words situation,
this happened after the 7 swords premiere, as i was driving out of 1U via the old wing form 4th floor. a car was 'stuck' at the exit as the machine keep rejecting his parking ticket. this went on for about 5 min and the driver was at a lost as what to do. it was around midnight and no guard/parking attendant was around, worst, the Q was getting longer. while everyone were very polite about it, i knew the situation was going to change pretty soon. i was one of them.

suddenly i had a briliant idea ! why not go down the enterance slope !
what a Great idea!, here i come, the one who will save everyone for the mess. i coolly walked down the car (feeling 6 feet high), asked one of the driver to reverse and go down the enterance, saying the famous last words - "it's midnight and i don't think there will be anyone coming into the shopping complex".the driver gladly followed my suggestion. Operation exit via enterance was on the way.

the car had not gone even a quater way down, when i heard horning..., all was quiet for a while and behold, all the cars that was going down via the enterance were reversing. a car had come up the entrance slope into 1U!

BLUSH ! good thing the 'correction' was done in an oderly manner and everyone keep their cool. the going down cars reversed far enough for the incoming car to get into the complex. to add salt to the injury, as all this was happening the machine decided to swalloed the ticket, the 'gate' opened to let cars out ! Double BLUSH !!

i'm now about as small as an ant and were there a paperbag around, i'll cut three small holes and put the bag over my head.

well it could have been worst*.

7swords ? don't bother. rent the old 7 samurai movie, it's much better.
now i feel sorry that i gave some tickets to my friend in Penang. Ron, if you didn't enjoy the movie sorry.

* on hind sight the cars would still get stuck at the bottom of the enterance lane as there is another 'gate' to keep cars from coming in without picking up the ticket.

Thank you

now a days i realise we just add a thank you at the end of a conversation concerning work. sorry.., i sometimes find myself doing it and certainly have come across lots of people that does it.

i call someone and tell them they have to do something, yada,yada,yada,.....i end with thank you and the other person does the same as well. i mean if i call them to give them something or to let them know i've completed some stuff for them then i'll expect a thank you, but not when i assign them some stuff to do.

i'm wondering if this caused by our 'over polite' society. say a thank you at the end of every conversation will quickly make it loose it's meaning and get people wondering if you understand what's being brief to you.

i'm trying to consciously not say thank you especially over the phone. of course i won't be going to the other end to end it with a grumble either. maybe i'll just say ok or will do.

2 Kings 10:15

coming from a small company there is something that i cannot get used to, it's that the hearts of people in the company are not knitted together.

when i was in a smaller company, we were of 1 heart and mind. sure we did things wrong and things were not perfect but when we are out there, we backed each other up like our lives depended on it. we stick situations out through thick & thin.
my boss have had to put his neck on the line to help salvage a badly managed job, he twisted answered the questions asked and asked for more time to put everything in order. my producer would give us a tongue whipping for jobs done poorly but in front of clients, we were the best there is in the business.

so
it's pretty hard for me to sit beside together with people who bitch say bad things about the company they're working for. especially if they're from the HR dept and guys from management. my company have a very good gossip grapevine system that is actually faster than the office PA.
sometimes there are things that goes on without everyone knowing the full picture plus there will be people that will never have anything good to say no matter how hard one try to put things right for them. the situation gets worse when people from management level add fuel to it.

guess life is easier when you have people who's heart are with you at work.

And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab [coming] to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart [is] with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give [me] thine hand. And he gave [him] his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.2 Kings 10:15

Gospel on the go

a quick way to share the gospel

1. Grace
Heaven/eternal life is a free gift
it's not earned or deserved
2. Man
man is a sinner
man cannot save himself
3. God
God is merciful and does not want to punish us, yet
God is just and must punish SIN.
God solve this problem in the person of Jesus Christ
4. Christ
is the infinite God-Man
died on the cross to pay for the penalty of our sins and to purchase a place in heaven for us.
5. Faith
this gift of eternal life is receive through faith
it is trusting in Jesus alone for eternal life.

this week I've been going through the above to enable me to share the gospel in a logical & effective way. The above is just the outline and very useful for our 'on the go' society.
the expended version is very much longer with bible verses. There will be people who will have to memorize the above by tomorrow. How I don't envy them.

Borrowed Stuff

Today my colleague passed me a Nokia 6680 with Celcom sim card in it. we used it to try it's 3G capabilities.

while in my possession, i took care of it like it's the most precious thing. it's coz i don't own it and i know i cannot afford to pay for it if anything happens to it.not to mention the among of problems, red faces and 'sorrys it will cause.

the world would be a much better place if all of us treat everything we think we own and everything around us the same way.

we really don't own anything. Naked we came and naked we will go.

p.s. 3G not so fast most of the time but when it works it's cool.

Are you worth more dead ?

This morning in the papers, they have identified that it's the work of suicide bombers.
which led me to wonder if their lives are worth more dead than alive. and who could be spreading these lies to them.

i must confess i don't know much about suffering of the poor and oppressed in this or other countries. when you're in such a state, does that make you worth more dead than alive ?

such bombing does not solve anything and it's been done countless times.

if you always do what you've always done,
you'll get what you've always got.

but i guess if you're dead, you can't learn from your past mistakes.

I'm online again

On MSN messenger that is. it was blocked for a long time, and we were using Web messenger which if you're addicted to MSN, you'll tolerate the 'slowness' of it.
i did it for a while but soon gave up. now on Messenger like strike gold like that.

it's a great working tool as we were able to send stuffs to colleagues quickly and have quick chats about work, it's much faster than e-mail not to mention more fun as well.

Recycle

me being a mr Green as well have been following the recycling issue quite closely. Mrs Chief have bought 4 big bins to store materials for recycling and have been bugging me to send the stuffs to a recycling center in front of Subang Carefour,(the 3 little rubbish recycling bins in front of shopping complexes and where nots won't do the job, i don't know why they're where they are. i mean have you actually seen any of them 'overflow' with recyclable stuffs ?)

it's a short drive there and i really don't mind it but.....
the stuffs are really heavy (glass) and bulky (metal tins). and is an effort to get them to the proper place. the last time it almost didn't fit into my car booth and this time around, i'm sure they won't fit.

there's no problems with paper as there are more than enough old newspaper guys yelling running around collecting papers(they also collect cardboard boxes, junk mails, bills...),but they won't take he rest. WHY ???

if they do. i'm sure the amount of people who recycle will suddenly shoot up.

the government should, instead of spending so much money on recycling campaings and rubbish recycling bins, draw up incentive schemes for the old newspaper man to collect glass and metals as well. they're already doing their rounds in housing estates for paper, on small to mid sized lorry, and have a good rapport with you main recycle agents - the housewives !

must the rakyat think of everything ? sigh.....

Butterflies

this is for 5xMom who is teaching her juniors about Bra and might want to move on further from there.

Mrs Chief went into the backyard to hang the clothes and behold, what does she find ? butterflies mating. so she called the children and instead of the birds and the bees, we get the butterflies.

boy, children now a days do grow up fast. my youngest is only 3 and he's listening in to all this already. i guess one way of doing this is not making the topic a taboo, but as casual as possible starting with butterflies.

my 8 yr old is already moving beyond the butterflies, bees and birds and mrs Chief have been doing a good job answering all her questions. she cannot imagine starting off as a sperm and finds it yuckky ! hahaha... we spare her all the details for now.

going for movie

tomorrow i'll be heading to

for Kingdom of Heaven.

i was there for Hitchhiker's Guide but was there late. only managed to get candy floss and a photo taken and printed courtesy of Nokia.

when i first went there last year, my mrs & i were wondering why would anyone want to watch the movie at 'padang'*. it's actually quite fun if you go there in a big group and make it like a night picnic thingy. plus you get to sit very close and get comfy with your girlfriend or ex-girlfriend**, can even lie down.....but before you let your imagination fly too far ahead, it's a wide open space and everyone's seated quite close together. all hanky panky stuff will have to wait till you get home.

you do have to pick a correct spot as some people are really tall and will block your view and there are some who have Hong Kong foot that'll make you turn purple from holding your breath as long as possible.

well wish me luck and good weather !

Private Function

invite says private invitation

the place where we makan Middle Eastern Cuisine
al Nafourah, le Meridien

the hotel's at KL Central. to get in, wah security check on vehicle is tight, makes you feel like going into E.Berlin. they've got this mirror thingy that looks under your car, they get you to open your car booth. i feel so....safe when i'm in there. (sarcasm intended). Ptui... if not for the invite i won't go there !

the food is OK only, 1st time eating middle eastern food. maybe coz it's not so hot anymore when food arrived to me, or it could be that the dinner actually only started at around 9. you know how after a certain time, you don't really feel like eating.

but it was a very nice private affair. all the guys there were in jacket, many teased me as this is the 1st time they've seen me in a monkey suit and if i can help it, the last.

Today i joined the Q for the Wawasan 2020 Bond for Non-Bumiputras. went to the bank at 9.30 and got number 15.

however it was sold out by number 12 ! and guess what i found out
