Old & New

I found my old Timex watch. my children were using it as their toy. this watch must be 10 years now and later tonight i hope to change it's battery and see if it still works. I love it as it's one of the 1st models with indiglo function. the whole 'face' would light up instead of just a small area as most watches at that time. looking at it this morning sure brought back some good memories. to let you know roughly how long ago it was, I bought this watch at radio shack in Bangsar.
hehehe...bet most of you don't even know radio shack existed in Malaysia.

the NEW

just got this Surefire G2 Nitron. i've been eyeing this for quite some time now but was too expensive. God worked things out and I got a good discount for it !
can wait to test it out when I reach home. my wife knows I have this thing for torchlight and have given up scolding advising that I have enough to last me a few lifetimes.




ps - went for lunch today and almost pig out on buffet lunch, but was in company of some powderful people so had to act normal. I actually miss my snacks of junk food more than any of the proper meal.

Breakfast only

this week except for wednesday, i'll be having only breakfast ( which consist of 2 slices of bread with peanut butter & orange marmalade, 1 big glass of vegetable juice and milo with oat - well that's the plan anyway ).

no-lah, not some kind of diet thing nor is it Spiritual. one of my friend & wife went on a 21 days liquid fast & i'm just wondering if i can do the same.....and OK...,my wife's been bugging me to lose some weight. my weight have been increase at the rate of 1kg/year. slightly more these last year or so.
at the moment,i'm hovering between 68 to 70 kg.

will keep everyone posted if i loose any weight or did not manage to get through the week of breakfast only ( 5 working day week only, hehehe...)
yesterday like hero only, don't feel a thing, this morning seeing stars already due to sugar withdrawal ! ok better stop now before whole blog turn into food talk.

Big space

Now that we've moved some stuff to the new place (if you don't know what's going on, you need to read this ) the present room now actually look big.
most of the stuff move are paperwork that need to be kept or to be filled daily.

it's amazing how much stuff we can accumulate over the years. during 'spring cleaning' for the move, i found many stuff that's a year or 2 old which i did not throw JUST IN CASE (JIC). well, today they're going to the dustbin. since our society is now so advance, i'm sure someone somewhere must have a soft copy version of it.

went up to the new place just a while ago and it's already looking cluttered. i bet if i go tell them they're allowed to keep only the most recent stuff, half of what's been brought up will stay in the store room. just like me, i'm sure most of the stuff brought up are JIC stuffs.

when the computer era started, many were hopeful that one day our society will be a paperless one. now even with the invention of PDA and notebooks, paper remains the favorite and we are actually consuming more paper than ever.

The Face

have you ever dislike someone just because you don't like him/her face ?
i mean you can't really give a reason.

he/she has not wrong you or anything like that but you find yourself a bit hostile toward them and apart for the superficial hi bye you don't want to have anything to do with them.
i really don't understand this but there are a few people i know that fall into that category.

i guess it is such quirky things that makes me human.

yesterday one of my friend was suggesting that due to the pampered nature of the Chinaes and the focus on education, in 10 - 20 years down the road the Bumis will be an economic force to be reckon with.

while Cs are being pampered and provided for and have all their needs met, Bs are out there learning to make a living, starting school of hard knocks at an early age. lots of them will be entrepreneur while Cs will be the professionals working in their company.

this observation is based on the lives of current entrepreneurs that have made it big. most of them started with a few or no dollars in their pocket and do not have Diploma, Degree or MBA. They work really hard and are very street smart.

I kind of agree but at the same time have my reservations as well.

from my observation

a bigger portion of entrepreneurs will/should come from Bs as they're the majority population.

Is have been in an even more disadvantage position, yet we hardly see any entrepreneurs from this group. maybe they don't have a 'Tai-kor' who looks after them well.

Globalisation is in and the more exposure one get the better it will be, school of hard knocks might not cut it anymore.i have read about the Cs networking and although not seen i'm sure it's alive and well. to have had a major business magazine write about it is no small thing.

technology have even the playing field a lot. it will keep changing and there will be jobs available that we've never heard of. so basically the more education you get the better prepared you'll be.

anyway what do i know about the business world and politics.

the topic of discussion with my friend was how to be a good father. how we get sidetracked so easily.

nothing to blog

i usually have lots of things to blog but when morning comes i usually forget most of them, and am left with nothing to blog. i must remember to jolt the topics down.
come to think of it, all this could be because i'm not 'involve' in what's going on around me ie i couldn't care less. hmm...what a scary thought.

Hot piece of Real Estate.

some ppl form my department are moving to a hot piece of real estate. it's just another part of the building but several dept have been eyeing it since everyone got wind that the current dept will be moved out to a diff location.

lo and behold, who should be allocated that piece of real estate but my band of merry men and me..hmmm...it must be because we don't want to move. really. coz unlike most of the other dept, we really don't mind working in a space that is slightly congested.

when i first joined the company, that's where the whole dept were and 1 of my producer really hated it there. i don't really like it very much myself. our present humble area is bright & cheerful, the place we're moving to ? it looks kind of gloomy, like they've been farming mushrooms in that area or a crime scene area right off CSI.

coz the allocation in not done in an open tender way, some dept are quite sore with me (as i'm trying to co-ordinate the details so that we can move on time) and the absence of proper paperwork sure adds to it.

sorry-lah, I'm just trying to make the best out of the situation I'm in, paperwork regarding the move and all should have been done at the higher level.

i sure hope there are systems for all these. the problems i've encountered in this moving exercise is scary.

1. we were not consulted as to how we would like to be seated in the new area. they just drew a plan to fit in maximum people in the available space.
2. the people currently occupying the place were not told the move had been brought forward, it was suppose to be in Sept or Oct.
3. i was told of the move but found out about the date of move by accident, speaking to M&E guys about arrangements of office space.
4. almost all the info most of the people go was through word of mouth or hearsay.

wah, long blog.. that's why i don't usually blog about work.

Happy Father's Day

i'll be celebrating my sister's wedding instead as her wedding happens to fall on that day.

my dad's gone to be with the Lord. being very chinese, we're not very affectionate and don't hug each other. i kind of sometimes imagine how it would feel like. the closes i got was holding his hand and comforting him when he was in the hospital. i remember how big his hand felt even though i'm already a grownup.

the way he showed love was by asking, do you have enough money ? once when i was in form 5 going out with a bunch of my friends for supper (in Klang), he gave me rm50 and asked if it was enough. when he left, my friends teased me. rm50 was a BIG deal back then, esp in a small town like Klang.

i could do almost anything or go anywhere and the only thing i remembered i could not do was cycle to Tioman and he would not get me a 'big' bike.

well for those of you who still have the 'old man' around, treat him nice even if he doesn't seem to enjoy it. i'm quite sure he'll appreciate it.

Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there. it's your day, let your kids pampered you for a change.

Dream

yestarday i had the weirdest dream, i dream that i was sleeping, or rather me watching myself sleep.

hmmm.. so this morning i woke up feeling like i didn't sleep for very long even thought i slept from 11.30pm to 7.45.

maybe i should ask for number from 5xmom, hahaha.....

i should stop dreaming such weird dreams.

Highway Patrol

on my way to and back from Penang, i saw a convoy of police cars on the highway. lthough i'm sure they are not highway patrol cars they were a funny sight and got me thinking what if they were actually highway patrol cars (in Malaysia, you'll never know).

I used to see highway patrols in Pajero, Volvo 960 estate and even 850 T5. now T5s are really scary coz that car can really go, the rest are just nice regular patrol cars that can carry lots of emergency stuffs. but the important thing is people will slow down

now if they are using kancils as highway patrol cars, people will slow down as well......to laugh at it.

Be on time

yesterday i was at a wedding dinner again. as usual the printed start time for dinner is 7pm. there was a table for VIPs and when i got the at 7.30pm they were almost all there.

Mr YTL Sr. was one of those that were on time.
Wow ! i know he's sort of retired or something like that but he's on time.
dinner was in Klang and i know for sure he does not stay there. for someone like him to actually be on time and have to wait for the rest.....

I know our former PM was known for his punctuality. wonder if this is a 'generation' thingy, this being on time.

for me, i'm one of those that tries to be there on the dot (read 5-10 mins late). but my wife is early for everything, except when i'm coming along, then we make it on time (one early, one late = on time but of course with quite a bit of hurry ups in between).

with everyone getting busier, i think being early is one good habit to keep.

seasons

when i first started blogging, i can't wait for the next day to blog again.
but recently, i've been too busy to blog everyday. and do not really have lot's of interesting topics to blog on.

on one hand i, like the rest of bloggers like to have regulars checking in on my blog (which means probably an entry a day or two), on another i sometimes find it hard to sit down, take time to blog on stuff i'm reflecting on or i find interesting.
well it has to happen sometime. everything after a while wears off a little.

then again some blogger seem to have all the time to have more than 1 entry a day (make me jealous only) and are still going great as when they first started.

Hmm...i started this for fun and it's still fun, just that i don't really have lots of time to have too much fun right now.

yep, it's just a season and it will pass.

come back already

well it was a short trip, most of the time spent in the hotel. went there for church camp-mah.

anyway my 2 little ones take time to be sick so all in all quite a stressful trip. was telling mrs chief we should come again without the 3 little ones. not that we don't want to take them but they are quite picky eaters so quite difficult to take them out. plus makan* everywhere, don't know their stomach can take it or not.

when i got to Penang i feel like riding a bike, coz they're the king of the road there ! plus when i was studying in USM i was also riding a kap-chai*. sure bring back some good memories.

super busy this few week + want to go home early to keep children happy !

5xmom - i did not pollute Penang, my son only throw up in my car.
Kancil Killer - saw lots of kancil but cannot find the roasted one.
