creator of masterpiece

there's this radio ad that really gets to me. it starts off by informing listeners about masterpieces and how it wouldn't be masterpieces without the creators (their names). then goes on to say your creation will not be a masterpiece without their product.
strange that they should acknowledge the creators of the masterpieces during 1st half of the commercial then 2nd half boast about how your work won't be a masterpiece without their product.

aaaa...... hello ??!!
it's like saying a good writer is only good coz they have a deluxe notebook or good photos are because of the camera.
can we fire the marketing manager who approved the ad and the copywritter who came out with it.

ZM's Birthday

today is ZM's birthday. tonight we're taking him out for dinner at a pizza place and then to run about in some kid's gym/playground.

i was searching around for his baby photos and photos of him growing. either i could not differentiate him at diff ages (mom's are best at this sort of things)or do not have photos of them. well you know how it is. 1st child gets the most photos, 2nd less and 3rd get least.

anyway i'll just post a photo of him that i like best.

this morning we (mrs Chief and i) prayed a prayer of blessing over him. i think it's a wonderful way to start another year ! for years i've neglected to do it. what a waste coz it's a father's blessing and only i am privileged to do it.

Old Boss

met my ex boss yesterday. he looks old, with grey hair and all. but his passion for the post production industry is still as high as when i was working for him.
he's running around trying to get sponsorship for MVA, if you're in the production, post production, doing short films, and to a certain extend agency, you would have probably have heard of it.

this is the 10th MVA, wow....i was involved in the 1st MVA. well nobody is getting any younger.

so if you're in the industry or want to get into the industry, send your entries in, it could be your ticket to stardom

mosquito repellent

a few months back i bought a mosquito repellent, it's one of those liquid type that you plug into the electrical socket and can last for 60 days (of course conditions apply). well to tell you that it's on, the manufacturer have added fragrance to it. it smells kind of nice, but i've associated the fragrance with mosquito repellent and try not to breath too deeply when i smell it.

well the smell appeared in the office a few week back and for the life of me i can't seem to find where it's from. one day i even went round looking at all electrical sockets near my place to find it. no such luck. i was asking myself why would anyone leave the repellent on the whole day ? it'll shortern the product my life. breathing in mosquito repellent day and night no matter how nice they smell got to do some damage. mosquitoes dies because of it ! plus now a days you can't be too careful.

one fine day i went near a colleague of mine, and the chandelier turned on !! the fragrance that got me searching high and low for the liquid mosquito repellent was emitting from him ! just to confirm it was from him, i stood close to him and took a sniff. yep that confirms it. wonder what brand is that.

i didn't have the heart to tell him. yes, he's still using the perfume today.

i got disease

well that's how i feel when i met with my colleague's friend !

after a meeting at some bamboo shoot tower, my colleague (A) asked me where do i want to go for lunch. of course i said bak kut teh... just to fool around with him. i told him there are some good food at the food court located just behind the building. A told me that he has a friend working there and had invited her to have lunch with us.

it's always nice to meet up with college friends. after about 5 min here she comes, my friend just waved his hand and said hi, i just extended my hand out to introduce myself when she kept her hand very close to her body, cover it with the other hand show me a no can do sign while smiling very sheepishly.

i immediately pulled back my hand and just say hi. i was a bit offended but could understand that there are some people who would do that although i must say this is the first time i've encountered such a person.

when i was studying in USM, there were rumors that certain medical students would not touch the patients of the opposite sex but would 'poke' at the patients with the end of the pencils instead.

she was jovial and looked open minded and i would not have expected such a thing form her.

wonder if she'll allow people for the opposite sex help her when she's in an accident and need help.

mooncake monster

hehehhe....
that's what i am. over the past month i must have eaten 3-4 boxes of mooncakes by myself. what's more scarry is i eat them in 1 whole piece, without cutting them up into smaller pieces.
it's not very good for health. i guess i must have put on 2 kg due to mooncakes. but since it's once a year thingy.....
eat on ! think about dieting later, when the mooncake festival is over.

leave planning

it's only 3&1/2 months till end of the year. most of my colleagues have checked their remaining leaves for 2003, which they have to finish by end of this year.
how obscene is that. finishing 2004's leave this year. this means that they still have 2005's leave untouched !

hehehe..i've checked with hr as well and found out that i still have 18 days from last year, but..... i've taken 8 days for this year which means that i still have 13 days's left.

our company gives us 21 days leave and allows us to carry forward 1 full years leave. as i'm looking after a dept, this policy does not make sense to me but as a fellow employee i'm happy about it.

bring out the calendar !!

911

this marked the 4th year of the 911 incident; on tv we see big memorials being held at ground zero. i’m not really moved by it. i know many died and it’s a reminder that there are people who think that your life and my life are tickets for them to get to ‘heaven’. i feel more for the guys on Flight 93.

for me the guys on board Flight 93 show what it means to be human. the passengers brought down the plane so that it will cause less damage. they knew they were going to die but still tried to wrestle over the control of the plane.

this story inspires me to :

know that a bunch of people with a common cause can get a lot done.
(the hijackers know they would fail in their mission & decided to crash the plane)

that when you do something good, you will be remembered. maybe not by all but by those who’s life was changed.

not give in till the fat lady sings !

all it takes for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing.

this young man

This Young Man

Since in my last post I was commenting on the slow reaction of old man, this post I shall comment on the fast reactions of a young man (perasan sikit can or not). This young man’s reaction was too fast, so got into an accident on Saturday nite. I rammed into another car.

It was at a T junction, I was looking for oncoming car on my right, I had seen it in front of me and had expected him to move out. I was not paying attention, he did move, but not far enough. I wanted to moved and the rest is history accident !

Today had my sister to help get his car for an estimate…. 580 ! to change the back bumper, spray, license plate light, license plate black plate on top of bumper and some knocking. This month going to be pokai already.

My car’s damage is 1 side of headlight, & bumper pushed in from my inexperienced eye that’s all-lah, but I’m sure when I send to workshop they’ll see more things that’ll be needing fixing.

This Old Man

was at the post office this morning to pay some bills. as i was waiting for my turn, in came a old man. this guy must be in his mid 80s, could still stand upright, dress smartly but could not walk very well. he was queuing to pay his bills as well, a very independent chap. how often do we see such old people still so mobile.

it was great to see he didn't have to wait for a long time and he finished paying for his bill the same time as me although he came in 10 mins later. as we were leaving the the post office the same time as well, i thought i would delay myself a bit to see how he got here, half expecting him to have walked there or even have some who had driven him there. i was getting ready to 'curse' the son/daughter that made the old man go in to pay the bills.

guess what, he walked shuffled to a car and got in. an old lady (his wife ?) was waiting for him in the car.

??

it's great to see him driving, but i was a bit shocked too. no offence but i sure wouldn't want to be driving behind him. when you're that old, your reaction is much slower. in Japan, the had a program to get older people to surrender their driving licenses as the were causing quite a lot of accidents.

having said that i sure admire his courage to still be independent and able to drive around at his age.
